This is now an archived page for reference only but was the home page in March/April 2009.
An advantage of having the ‘blog’ on the front page is that you get to see what’s news immediately – see ‘News’ for tonight’s TV for example.
News for April here. The suggested new Welcome page is here but it probably needs editing to shorten it (read the News first!).
This is a temporary new Home Page (March 2009). Find information about Brough and Winteringham below.
For the ‘old’ Home Page (blog) see ‘News‘ and the explanation on 26/3/09. If you haven’t read the ‘instructions‘, navigate this site with the Tabs at the top and use your Page Up or Home key to return to the top. Use the Search box at the top to find anything on the site.
Contact details and email addresses for the Captain, Vice-Captain and Hon. Sec. can be found on the ‘Contacts‘ page as can the telephone numbers for both Brough and Winteringham clubhouses.
Pending a new ‘About’ page for 2009, I have moved the old ‘About’ page to be a sub-page of the ‘WebArchive’ and you can find it there if you wish.
I have done this as I think the links to older versions of the site there may be causing confusion for some.
Until this page is updated, you can find information about Brough and Winteringham below and on the ‘Contacts’ page and about the very interesting history of the club on the ‘History’ page. (see Tabs above).

| Humber Yawl Club, Waterside, Winteringham SCUNTHORPE DN15 9PE N.B. this is not the Club’s mailing address:- see Brough Haven below. The Humber Yawl Club’s Haven at Winteringham is a tidal creek on the south bank of the Humber estuary. It offers a full range of sailing facilities as follows:- - Club house - Berthing - Slipway - Electric fixed winch - Hard standing - Duty boat - Tractor for moving trailers - Travel-hoist for craft up to 9 metres Winteringham Haven is best suited to shallow draft craft as the depth of water in the entrance limits the enjoyment of deep drafted yachts to the larger tides. |

Hi,
I am curently a keen dinghy sailor/racer at Hornsea Mere, and about to start enjoying the joys and tribulations of keelboat ownership. In deciding what to buy, one consideration is where I might keep/over-winter the boat. We live in Beverley and I have visited the HYC clubhouse and know Dave Butler reasonably well from hosting Open meetings for the Streaker assoc.
Could you advise me on cost of membership, availability of moorings for different sizes (if 34 foot is problematic I’d consider a smaller boat – another possibility being a First 29e) – both craft are fin keelers. Also cost and availability of winter haul-out and storage on land over winter.

I have released your comment here. You can wait and see if you eventually get a reply from a club officer or perhaps better contact them direct by telephone or email (see Contacts page) or visit Brough on a Thursday evening or at the weekend and introduce yourself. Details of membership are on the Join page http://humberyawl.wordpress.com/join/ and I think the details are still correct for 2011.
