Hi
Can anyone tell me why the tide hieghts for Albert dock are different in our little books to those published on BBC or UKHO sites?
Answers on a postcard or postmodern equivalent please.
Cheers Tony
Hi Terry
Not an April fool’s question I hope? This has come up before and a definitive answer may need more research. I couldn’t find tide tables (online) on the UKHO site (http://www.ukho.gov.uk/). (But see the EasyTide link on our Links page). On the BBC site for today, the difference is 1.2 metres.

I think this is always the same and for both high and low tide (check in the other local tide tables which use the same heights as ours). It must therefore be a question of the Chart Datum used – perhaps there is a difference between ‘Albert Dock’ and the Dock Sill? The heights given online are virtually identical for King George Dock and I suspect this is wrong. Perhaps our ex-pilot members could throw some light on this?
What about those pictures Terry?
